Fiege has applied for a licence under the Nuclear Energy Act. Until 3 June 2026, anyone can review the draft licence and submit a statement of view in response.
Role of the ANVS
The Authority for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection (ANVS) independently administers and assesses licence applications under the Nuclear Energy Act, only issuing licences to applicants who can ensure a safe situation. Fiege has shown that this is the case and that it is taking appropriate measures for the protection of people and the environment.
Purpose of the licence
Fiege is a logistics company on Boeilijn 1 in Westzaan, with activities including the transport of radioactive materials to hospitals. It occasionally uses a special temporary storage facility to store such shipments for further transport. Fiege already has a valid licence for these transport activities and the temporary storage.
The company has now applied for a licence amendment as it has moved to Boeilijn 1, Westzaan. It has built a special storage facility in a bunker at its new location that offers adequate shielding against radiation exposure and is secured against intruders.
See the draft licence and accompanying documents for more information.
