Marco Brugmans member of the Management Board/future Board Member of ANVS
Marco Brugmans has been appointed member of the Management Board/Board Member of ANVS (The Authority for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection). The appointment shall take effect on 1 September 2015.
The ANVS service now falls under the responsibility of the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment but will operate as a non-departmental public body (NDPB) in the future. Jan van den Heuvel has been quartermaster (and future Chairman) of the Board since February 2015. Now that Marco Brugmans has joined, the ANVS Board is at full strength.
Dr M.J.P. Marco Brugmans is currently Director/Manager of the VeiligheidNL foundation, the centre of expertise in the field of safety and behaviour that focuses on the prevention of injuries. He switched jobs in 1998 when he left the Department of Radiotherapy at the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek hospital and joined the Laboratory for Radiation Research at the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). During his time at the RIVM he served as a member on several United Nations and Health Council of the Netherlands committees on the effects of ionising radiation. He started working for VeiligheidNL in 2005, then called the Consumer Safety Institute, and he has been a member of the Board of Directors there since the end of 2010.
Marco Brugmans graduated from the Eindhoven University of Technology with a degree in Applied Physics and obtained his PhD in Experimental Physics from the University of Amsterdam in 1995.
