UN radiation brochure now available in eleven languages

Using simple language, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) brochure entitled ‘Radiation: Effects and Sources’ answers these questions. On 2 November 2017, UNEP published this brochure in eleven languages. ANVS contributed to the Dutch translation.

The brochure provides information based on up-to-date knowledge in the areas of radiation levels and the effects of radiation. The goal is to provide information to the average reader that is both easily accessible and comprehensible. The brochure is based on scientific reports issued by the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic radiation (UNSCEAR), which were the main sources of information used in drawing up this document.

Translation

The brochure was originally drawn up in English. The Dutch translation was prepared by the Federal Agency for Nuclear Control (Belgium), the Belgian Nuclear Research Center, the Authority for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection (The Netherlands) and the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (The Netherlands). The brochure is also available in Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, Czech, German, Japanese and Portuguese, via UNSCEAR’s website.
