Organisation

The ANVS is an independent and transparent organisation. The way in which the ANVS carries out its duties must be clear both to the general public and to entrepreneurs, for example regarding the reasoning behind amendments to rules and regulations, its decisions, and the justification for where and how to intervene.

Continuous improvement and active communication

Continuous improvement is always paramount in this regard. The authority actively informs the national and international public about nuclear safety and radiation protection. The ANVS also informs the national and international organisations, relevant local, regional, national and international authorities and companies whose work involves radiation.

No interference

The ANVS functions with no political, community or administrative interference. The organisation is responsible, among other duties, for making its own decisions, allocating its budget and representing the Netherlands in international organisations in the areas of nuclear safety and radiation protection.

Knowledge and expertise

The ANVS promotes a high level of knowledge of nuclear safety and radiation protection in industries, (local) authorities and other organisations. The authority provides expertise and coordinates or participates in national and international nuclear and radiation research projects in order to strengthen its knowledge on nuclear safety and radiation protection.
