Recognition of dosimetric services Landauer

Landauer Europe SAS (Landauer) is now recognised as a dosimetric service in the Netherlands. This means that Landauer can supply dosimeters (radiation dosimeters) in this country. The recognition is a decision of the Authority for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection (ANVS). Stakeholders can submit objections to this decision up to and including 28 August 2024.

Worker safety checks

In certain places in the Netherlands, such as hospitals, workers work with ionising radiation. Employers in these locations are required to perform checks to see how much radiation workers are exposed to. This is often done using a dosimeter. Employers may only use dosimeters that have been purchased from services recognised by the ANVS.

Landauer meets requirements

On 26 October 2023 , Landauer applied for recognition as a dosimetric service. Our licensors checked whether the application complied with the requirements. After confirming that this was the case, we made the decision (in Dutch) to recognise Landauer. Landauer employs high-quality equipment that complies with all relevant technical standards. Moreover, Landauer is an ISO 17025-accredited laboratory, which means that Landauer operates according to the latest quality standards.

Recognised for multiple types of dosimeter

Landauer offers a variety of dosimeters, the most important of which is the whole body dosimeter. This measures the radiation absorbed by the entire body. In addition, employers sometimes use special types of dosimeters for measuring the radiation that the hands and fingers are exposed to. Another type is the lens of eye dosimeter.

Some occupations require extra monitoring of the level of radiation exposure of the lens of the eye or fingers, since a whole body dosimeter cannot adequately measure this radiation. The recognition specifies the type of dosimeter Landauer may supply.
