Discover what we are working on in 2025
Another year, another annual plan. This document sets out our ambitions and activities in the fields of radiation protection and nuclear safety in the year ahead. In 2025, we have chosen to highlight 3 central themes: preparing, connecting and improving.
Statutory duties and organisational development
In ANVS Annual Plan 2025, you can read more about the action we are taking this coming year. One key area of focus is the statutory duties we have as the Netherlands' regulator. But we also focus on our organisational development and more specifically how this affects they way we perform our duties. Of course, our activities in 2025 will extend beyond the scope of our new annual plan. Many aspects of our work are unpredictable: for example, we never know exactly when we will receive a permit application.
Doing more better
The ANVS can look forward to a busy year. This includes our ongoing preparations for the potential arrival of 4 nuclear power plants, in addition to initiatives for small modular reactors and increasing production of radioactive medicinal products. Meanwhile, we will continue to issue permits, carry out inspections and deploy our specialist knowledge to assist government bodies. This involves maintaining close contact with the industry, society and our fellow regulators. The lessons we learn from all these activities are put into practice as swiftly and effectively as possible.
A changing world
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the ANVS. As our board states in its preface to the new annual plan: 'we have seen the world change'. We are now reaching a point where the Netherlands is becoming 'a medium-sized player in the nuclear field'. This is a significant change from the early days of the ANVS, when there was talk of phasing out nuclear power. The Netherlands has embarked on a new path, one that is certain to have an impact for decades to come. In our role as the Authority for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection, we are closely monitoring these developments. To protect and promote nuclear safety and radiation protection for present and future generations.
