The ANVS intends to renew the licence for the use of radioactive materials and devices granted to Stichting Slingeland Ziekenhuis. The hospital at Kruisbergseweg 25 in Doetinchem requires the renewed licence for a planned relocation to Kemnaderallee 11 in Doetinchem in 2027. Anyone is entitled to submit a response to the draft licence until 28 January 2026.
Regional hospital in the Achterhoek region
The Slingeland Ziekenhuis provides regional hospital care for residents of the Achterhoek region. The hospital uses devices that emit ionising radiation, such as equipment for taking X-ray photos. It also works with radioactive materials to treat cancer and other illnesses, for which it already holds a licence.
New location by the A18
The Slingeland Ziekenhuis is currently constructing a modern and future-proof hospital at Kemnaderallee 11 in Doetinchem, close to the A18 motorway. The new hospital is set to open in mid-2027. The Slingeland Ziekenhuis requires a renewed licence with several modifications for the new location. The hospital wishes to provide more care to patients at the new location and therefore needs to expand its radioactive materials and devices. In order to be able to provide improved care, the hospital wishes to purchase a PET/CT scanner for the new building.
Safety for people and the environment
We want to grant the hospital an expansion of its existing licence. The Slingeland Ziekenhuis is taking adequate safety measures to protect its workers and patients from radiation. The hospital also ensures that discharges of radioactive materials into the air and via the sewer system are kept to a minimum. In this way, the hospital prevents negative consequences for people and the environment.
