Sagro Decom has applied for an amendment to its licence under the Nuclear Energy Act. The draft licence can be viewed by everyone up until 26 May 2026. You can respond to this by submitting a statement of view (public participation response).
Role of the ANVS
The Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection Authority (ANVS) independently assesses and processes licence applications on the basis of the Nuclear Energy Act and only grants a licence if the applicant ensures a safe situation. Sagro Decom has shown that this is the case and that it takes the right measures to protect people and the environment.
Purpose of the licence
Sagro Decom is involved in the dismantling and maintenance of mining installations at Estlandweg 10 in Nieuwdorp. The company wants to expand its activities at a new location and has therefore applied for a licence to be allowed to also carry out the same activities at Estlandweg 6.
Radioactive substances may accumulate in some parts of mining installations. These substances occur naturally in the earth’s crust and may be brought to the surface when raw materials are extracted from the ground.
More information about this can be found in the draft licence and the accompanying documents.
