The Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management has published an amended Nuclear Energy Act (Remunerations) Decree. This decree specifies the fees payable by licensees and applicants for various activities carried out by the ANVS, such as licensing and oversight. Some of these fees have been reduced or eliminated, while others have been added or gone up. The decree goes into effect on 1 January 2027.

New activities

Under the old decree, we charged fees for such activities as licensing and oversight of nuclear facilities, certain transport licences and the registration of radiation protection experts, practitioners and training programmes. The new decree also specifies fees for licensing and registration of medical and industrial applications of radiation, other types of transport and the certification of transport packaging.

Additionally, according to the amended Remunerations Decree, developers must now pay for oversight of the establishment of new nuclear reactors, such as the PALLAS reactor for medical isotopes. Nothing was arranged for these activities yet, as it had been a long time since the construction of any new facilities.

Not all in 2027

Not all of the changes will go into effect on 1 January 2027. The new fees for radiation applications and transport do not apply until 1 January 2028.
