If you intend to transport radioactive materials, you must notify the ANVS of this fact. Announce the transport at least 3 weeks in advance via the ANVS online portal. If you don't receive a response from us within the next three weeks, you are free to transport the materials. Under certain conditions, you can also submit an annual transport notification. This is a single notification for all transport of radioactive materials in the course of a year (12 months).

Submitting a notification

  1. Go to the ANVS online portal.
  2. Log in with eHerkenning.
  3. Click on ‘Notifications and announcements’.
  4. Click on ‘Notifications’.
  5. Click on ‘(Annual) transport notification’.
  6. Complete the form in full.
  7. Submit the completed form.
  8. You will receive a confirmation email from us. This email contains a registration number. Quote this registration number in future correspondence.

Multiple shipments

Are multiple shipments involved? Submit a separate notification for each one.

Assessment

The ANVS will assess your notification. If we don’t respond within the next 3 weeks, you are free to transport the materials.

Announcing a change

Changes must be announced no later than 3 business days before the actual transport takes place. Send an email to postbus.transportmelding@anvs.nl, quoting your registration number.

Submitting an annual notification

Requirements

An annual notification is only possible in certain exceptional cases. Several conditions must be met:

  • You must convincingly demonstrate the necessity of an annual notification. This will depend on the properties of the radioactive materials you wish to transport. The materials’ application and your operations are also relevant.
  • The annual notification must be as comprehensive as possible. You must provide as accurate an estimate as possible of your expected transport in the coming year, including such details as the specific nuclides and number of shipments. 
  • You must keep administrative records of the transport you actually carry out. These records must include the information from Section 4d of the Fissionable Materials, Ores and Radioactive Substances (Transport) Decree (in Dutch). We can ask you for this information.

Applying for an annual notification

  1. Go to the ANVS online portal.
  2. Log in with eHerkenning.
  3. Click on 'Notifications and announcements'.
  4. Click on 'Notifications'.
  5. Click on '(Annual) transport notification'.
  6. Explain why you think you should be allowed to submit an annual notification.
  7. Complete the form in full. Include an estimate of how many trips you will be making and which radioactive materials you will be transporting.
  8. Submit the completed form.
  9. You will receive a confirmation email from us. This email contains a registration number. Quote this registration number in future correspondence.

Assessment

The ANVS will assess your annual notification. We will let you know if any further information is needed.

If your annual notification meets the requirements, it will be valid for a maximum of 1 year. After this period, you will need to submit a new annual notification.
